Placement Testing

Asian Languages and Cultures Department Placement Testing

Placement testing for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean is offered online through Rutgers e-Learning at placement.elearning.rutgers.edu. After completing your online placement test, you may be asked to provide additional information or subject to additional testing. If you have trouble accessing the online placement test, contact Rutgers Testing and Placement to request access.

 

The Chinese, Japanese, and Korean online placement tests will close at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 19, 2027 for Spring 2027 registration. 

Please note that students with prior knowledge of the language who wish to take a language course MUST complete the placement test. If the test is closed, please reach out to us to discuss alternative assessment format.
