On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, the Japanese program in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures held its annual induction ceremony for the Japanese National Honor Society–College Chapter (JNHS–CC), recognizing eight outstanding students for their academic achievement and excellence in the study of Japanese language and culture.
This year’s inductees are: Adedotun Adedokun, Orland Geronimo, Reuben Geronimo, Xiyu Jiang, Jason Ordonez, Shane Rodado, Jonathan Charles Stephens, and Kate Yamauchi,.
The Japanese National Honor Society recognizes and encourages excellence in Japanese language study at the collegiate level. Administered by the American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ), membership in the JNHS–CC is regarded as a national honor and reflects students’ exceptional dedication to language learning.
These students are recognized for their dedication to the study of Japanese. In today’s increasingly interconnected world, the study of languages and cultures beyond one’s own is essential. Through their achievements, these students demonstrate a strong commitment to participating in meaningful global and multicultural dialogue. JNHS–CC students are well prepared to engage in multicultural and multilingual communities.
