16:165:506 Chinese Across the Curriculum
Description: This is a practical, hands-on course on the teaching of Chinese as a foreign/second languageThis is a practical, hands-on course on the teaching of Chinese as a foreign/second language(CFL/CSL) in K-16 (kindergarten through college). In this course, students will becomefamiliar with the development of CFL and ACTFL standards as applied to CFL. They willhave ample opportunities to practice creating and teaching level and grade appropriateactivities and lesson plans. Students will also tackle the unique challenges of teaching CFL,especially in the American classroom. By the end of the course, students will have created ateaching portfolio, which includes a teaching statement, sample lesson plans and a teachingdemo video. The course is conducted in Chinese and English. All readings are in English.
